Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for an Apprentice Heavy Duty Mechanic based out of our Spruce Grove operations. This role supports the maintenance and reliability of our fleet while gaining hands-on apprenticeship experience in a fast-paced heavy civil construction environment.
Responsibilities:
- Promote safety awareness by following all corporate health and safety policies and procedures
- Service and fuel heavy equipment including CAT, John Deere, and Hitachi machinery
- Perform preventative maintenance and inspections to maximize equipment uptime
- Communicate updates to supervisors to ensure maintenance goals and schedules are met
- Accurately complete daily paperwork, logs, and maintenance records
- Immediately report all incidents, near misses, and equipment damage
Qualifications:
- Registered Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with CAT, John Deere, and Hitachi equipment
- Minimum 2 years of experience in heavy civil earthworks, mining, and/or infrastructure construction
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Good physical condition and ability to perform all duties assigned
