Thompson Overview

Thompson Bros. (CONSTR.) LP is the heart of Thompson Construction Group, where we continue to build upon more than a half-century of achievements. Thompson Bros. (CONSTR.) LP is the contract holding arm for Thompson Construction Group and continues to be a legal entity. TCG was created to collectively represent our vision moving forward and to show cohesion among our business units. This process was done to encompass all our initiatives and the diligent workers who call Thompson their home. We believe this encompasses the growth of the company and the hard-working, dedicated, and experienced employees who continue to make us a leader in our community.

Thompson’s more than a half century of experience in completing projects, on schedule and on budget, assures our customers a well constructed result the first time and every time.

Thompson utilizes quality assurance procedures and programs as a means of ensuring that all  work performed, and procedures carried out, are in full compliance with applicable and  established legislation, regulations, standards, specifications, codes and other relevant  requirements. Thompson is fully committed to serving the needs of its clients and providing the  highest standard of care achievable through the use of Quality Assurance standards.

Safety & Awards

In pursuit of our commitment we redoubled out safety efforts by intensifying our focus on leadership engagement, training, hazard recognition and field assessments. Consistent with our commitment to safe practices, Thompson is registered with several governance bodies – CanQual, ISNet World, Avetta and has been the recipient of several significant safety awards.

Local & Aboriginal Content

Thompson recognizes the importance of a strong local involvement and will employ local/aboriginal personnel and subcontractors wherever possible to benefit both the project and the community.

We will continue to upgrade its operations and resources to fulfill the region’s requirements. Our contacts for Northern Employment include, but are not limited to:

  • The Athabasca Tribal Council First Nations Employment office, located in Fort McMurray (780-791-7445) communicates with us when non-skilled and skilled employees enter their data base.
  • Fort McMurray Employment Assistance Service Centre (780-714-3029), Apex Employment and Career Services (780-790-9080), Human Resources and Development Canada, all provide services to Thompson Construction Group, as above.
  • The Aboriginal Human Resources Development Council of Canada has requested us to provide input on employment and training of the Aboriginal community, across Canada.
  • The Councils of the Driftpile Cree Nation and Janvier First Nations have been in discussion with us to further the training and employment opportunities of their people.

Thompson has maintained ongoing working relationships with Fort Chipewyan First Nations, Bear Slashing, Tuccaro Inc. Group of Companies, IPS Medical of Fort McKay, CenterFire Contracting of Anzac as well as the Driftpile Cree and Alexis First Nations, to provide various clearing, excavation and grading operations to supplement our core strengths.

Local, Aboriginal & Canadian Content Analysis

Aboriginal content is very important to TBCLP and our Clients. Of the below noted Direct Hire Employees, the following identifies Aboriginal content:

During the 2020 year, we employed a total of 228 individuals who have classified themselves as Canadian Aboriginal. These numbers include hourly employees working in the field. Our current average is around 15% of our workforce.

Environmental Policy

Thompson was the Alberta Roadbuilders Association recipient of “Environment Management Practice Award”; publicly recognized for our sustainable practices in the communities where we operate.
