Description: Thompson Builders Inc. is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as an Estimator. Reporting to the General Manager, the Estimator is an experienced team-builder with a broad spectrum of talent, who builds and maintains key relationships with key stakeholders including the clients, sub-contractors, suppliers, and consultants. You are fully proficient with the technical, risk-analysis, and communication skills required to lead pursuits from conception to buy-out.

    Responsibilities:

    ·         Review contract documents, including drawings, specifications, and tender forms.

    ·         Prepare preliminary estimates and budgets.

    ·         Develop detailed quantity takeoffs using industry-standard software.

    ·         Prepare accurate cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.

    ·         Develop preliminary construction schedules and project logistics planning.

    ·         Assist in identifying and addressing ambiguities or unique technical requirements in bid documents.

    ·         Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes.

    ·         Contribute to the development of bid preparation schedules and ensure deadlines are met.

    ·         Conduct risk and opportunity analysis on projects outlining mitigation strategies.

    ·         Participate in bid review meetings and present findings to senior management.

    ·         Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the estimate sheet.

    ·         Support the development of estimating standards and strategies.

    Project Support:

    ·         Provide estimating support for change orders and project variations as needed.

    ·         Assist Project Managers with cost-related inquiries during project execution.

    ·         Assist operations through project coordination if estimates are not required.

    ·         Stay updated on industry trends, new construction methods, and estimating technologies.

    ·         Contribute to the improvement of estimating processes and procedures.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    ·         Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.

    ·         Gold Seal Certification in Estimating (in progress or willing to pursue).

    ·         PQS or CEC is considered an asset.

    ·         5-8 years of estimating experience in the construction industry, preferably with a general contractor in Western Canada.

    ·         Diverse experience in working with different types of Light Industrial, Commercial, or vertical civil construction ranging in values between $2-40 million dollars.

    ·         Proficiency in ACC or related software.

    Technical Skills:

    ·         Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

    ·         Proficient in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.

    ·         Proficient in reading and interpreting Canadian Contracts including CCDC 2, CCDC 5B, and CCDC 14.

    ·         Proficient in developing a construction execution plan, and project schedule.

    ·         Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and construction-specific software.

    ·         Assistance in procurement and scope creation.

    Description: Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Heavy Equipment Fuel and Lube Technician working with our Water & Sewer operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the daily fueling and greasing of all equipment and support Heavy Duty Technicians with performing scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. All positions require consistent cooperation with the company’s safety policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities:

    • Comply with all safety standards.
    • Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when and where required.
    • Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
    • Fuel and grease all equipment daily.
    • Maintain service order documentation and assist other maintenance personnel when required.
    • Document Service operations and time tracking in accordance with company policies.
    • Request parts required as necessary.
    • Ensure service trucks are kept clean, organized, always maintained properly and ready for use.
    • Immediately report any safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
    • Perform technical inspections and document findings.
    • Perform Preventive Maintenance operations when required.
    • Oil and filter changes.
    • Complete Equipment services on job site.

    Qualifications:

    • Heavy equipment maintenance experience.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
    • Thorough knowledge of applicable safety practices and procedures.
    • Strong communication skills to coordinate workflow with crew, foreman and superintendent.
    • Valid Class 3 operators license with air brakes (candidate to provide current abstract).
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • CSTS 2020.
    • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
    • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.

    Responsibilities:

    • Work with Excavator Operator to cut grade
    • Installation of graded pipe, man holes, catch basins and any other associated structures
    • Installation of pressurized pipe and associated fittings including valves, tees, bends, and hydrants
    • Service pipe installation
    • Monitor and ensure backfill of installed pipe
    • Expose existing utilities

    Qualifications:

    • 2 years minimum experience in the Water and Sewer Industry
    • Clean Class 5 Valid Driver’s License
    • Minimum 18 years of age
