Thompson Builders Inc. is seeking an Operations Manager who will fundamentally shape and drive how Thompson delivers and executes projects and help continue with our growth and presence in the industry. Reporting to the VP, the Operations Manager is an experienced team-builder with a broad spectrum of talent, who builds and maintains relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, project teams, consultants, and sub-contractors/suppliers. The candidate should be fully proficient with the technical, leadership, and communication skills required to lead teams from estimate to close-out.

Responsibilities:

  • Safety & Compliance – Ensure safety and quality standards are met or exceeded and promote a healthy work environment.
  • Project KPI’s: Develop and measure KPI’s for project health and success in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Establish project teams, define roles and responsibilities, and facilitate team meetings.
  • Client Relations: Maintain and build relationships with key existing clients and identify new clients for new opportunities.
  • Hiring and Staffing: Recruit key personnel and ensure jobs are staffed adequately.
  • Project Planning and Execution: Apply construction expertise to ensure proper project planning, scheduling, staffing, cost control, and overall project management.

 Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, CET, Engineering, Business, or a related field is an asset.
  • Experience: 10-15 years of direct leadership and construction (project management) experience.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, fiscal management, and optimizing profitability.
  • Team Work: Ability to motivate teams, mentor PM’s and Superintendents while creating career development opportunities.
  • Software Skills: Proficiency with the MS Office Suite and project management software. Knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud software is an asset.
  • Desire for Growth: Eagerness to learn and grow, with a willingness to acquire new skills as needed.
