Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Construction Surveyor in their Fort McMurray operations area.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct day-to-day staking in accordance with project design
- Conduct field topographic survey pickups
- Troubleshoot survey layout and machine control on site (TOPCON and Trimble)
- Report to project management and field Superintendents
- Record field data according to job specifications
Qualifications:
- Extensive GPS Construction layout using Trimble or TOPCON GPS with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- Knowledge of DTM surfaces and the ability to layout and pick lines using DXF files in the data collectors
- Good understanding and knowledge of proper construction staking of roads, pads, and ponds
- Working experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Centre or Terramodel is required
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational skills
- Geomatic Engineering Diploma or Civil Engineering Tech Diploma would be considered an asset
- Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
- Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Regional Orientation / OSSA Basic Safety Orientation (BSO) or Energy Safety Canada Common Safety Orientation (CSO)
- Ground Disturbance, H2S Alive and First Aid is considered an asset
- Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
