Thompson Construction Group is currently seeking a charismatic and experienced individual to join our team as a Heavy Civil Earthworks Site Superintendent working from our operations area in Fort McMurray Alberta. Reporting to a Project Director, the Site Superintendent is involved in a wide range of earthworks construction activities.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure site safety and environmental standards are met or exceeded
- Organize the job site and crew to carry out the project plan
- Coordinate machine and manpower movement throughout the project
- Establish and communicate tasks to Site Foreman to ensure they clearly understand their respective roles and responsibilities
- Ensure compliance and enforcement of corporate health and safety policies and procedures
- Directly supervise all phases of the project and ensure quality control testing is completed and accurate
- Ensure subcontract forces work efficiently to meet schedule demands and that the work carried out is done in accordance with the plans and specifications
- Attend site meetings
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Mining Industry
- Previous experience leading teams of a minimum of 100 workers
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS) Certification
- Oil Sands Safety Association (OSSA) Certification, CSO or BSO equivalent
- Leadership for Safety Excellence Certification
- Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
