DESCRIPTION: Thompson Infrastructure has an immediate opening for a Water & Sewer Construction Estimator in their head office located in Spruce Grove, Alberta.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and summarize tender documents to determine scope of work and assess potential risk for management evaluation
- Interpret contract documents, standards, and regulations to mitigate risk and maximize opportunities
- Prepare estimates of costs of material, labour and equipment for projects based on contract
- Obtain quotations from subcontractors and suppliers
- Provide scheduling for tenders
- Quantity take-offs and quantity reconciliation
- Responsible to complete the entire tender proposal package for management review
- Accountable and responsible for the accuracy and compliance of assigned estimate
- Collaborate with site supervision to develop, recommend, and implement the project execution plan after being awarded the project
- Track tender addenda and submissions
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure complete and compliant estimates having a cost-effective delivery plan
- Attend client meetings associated with pre-tender, post tender and project startup
QUALIFICATIONS:
- The successful candidate would ideally have estimating experience in Water and Sewer or underground utilities in Alberta with a minimum of 2-5 years of industry experience
- Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Civil Engineering
- Knowledge of site development guidelines and processes
- Geotechnical engineering civil site understanding
- Superior computer skills and technical writing
- Experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Adobe or Bluebeam, MS Project, and B2W Software
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
