Heavy Duty Mechanics and Fuel and Lube Technicians

Thompson Construction Group has earned a solid reputation as an industry leader in all aspects of light and heavy civil earth moving, highway, mining and plant sites construction projects. We are looking for Heavy Duty Mechanics and Subcontractors, Commercial Truck and Transport Mechanics and Service/Fuel and Lube Technicians to join our Maintenance team for our operations located in the Fort McMurray area.

Mechanics Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair equipment deficiencies
• Perform preventative maintenance
• Communicate with site management to coordinate maintenance priorities
• Maintain maintenance records
• Testing and inspecting vehicle to ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer specifications and Government standards

Mechanics Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Infrastructure for Mechanics
• Valid Class 3 Operator’s License with air brakes is preferred
• Truck & Transport Mechanic – Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic (Red Seal) Certified
• Heavy Duty Mechanic – Heavy Equipment Technician (Off Road) – Journeyman (Red Seal) Certified

Service/Fuel and Lube Technicians Responsibilities

• Fuel and grease all equipment daily.
• Diagnose and repair company assets, maintain repair order documentation and assist other maintenance personnel when required.
• Oil and filter changes
• Document repair operations and time tracking in accordance with company policies.

Service/Fuel and Lube Technicians Qualifications

• Heavy equipment maintenance experience is considered an asset for Service and Fuel and Lube Technicians
• Class 1 Driver’s License is preferred; Class 3 Driver’s License with air breaks is required

Requirements

• Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live-in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
• CSTS/OSSA or BSO or CSO Certification
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
• Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test
• Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance of corporate health and safety policies and procedures
