Thompson Construction Group has an opening in the upcoming season for a Water & Sewer Gradesman working out of Edmonton and surrounding area of operations.
Responsibilities:
- Use of survey instruments to establish correct grade for water and sewer, utility and road construction projects
- Ability to read plans and mathematically inclined to accurately complete many functions of the job
- Installation of stakes as required for layout purposes
- Must be willing to learn and work with Operators, Forman, Superintendent and occasionally, Site Engineers to conduct and complete day to day work activities
- Must be able to walk long distances and do any groundwork essentials to the completion of the contract
- Measures distances from reference points to locate boundaries of construction site
- Verify graded surface using a laser levels, boning rods, batter boards, hand levels etc.
- Be able to identify hazards on site
- Must be willing and able to learn general construction practices involving water and sewer and road construction
- Have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and ability to work in and implement safe work practices and contribute to a safe work environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
- Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license
- Work overtime as required
